Finally got this commission done. I did a lot of research into coats for german backgrounds and tried checking out his family crest and everything... so then i came up with this.

That's our national anthem you know :P

But yeah it was written at a time where the german state formed itself from all those smaller fragments..

i actually have a very handy translator widget that will convert a number of languages efficiently, which i use a lot because of deviantart's worldwide community. It translates to "Agreement and right and freedom for the German native country! Afterwards let us all strive, fraternal with heart and hand!" which, had i known nothing of the history of the merge, i would have no idea what it meant. ^^;

i also speak some spanish, so when i'm looking for vocabulary that i don't know (or can't remember for sure) i'll use it to help me through a sentence.

I think you don't have to go that deep into the matter X> But german history is quite interesting...besides of the NAzi part everyone seems to know about but not of the rest. THat's a shame sadly.

But just know that the few lines are posted are the (official) lyrics to our national anthem and you are all good :>
